It is believed that the name was came from a citizen named "Ayers".  It is a unique spelling of a musical instrument.

The first Postmaster was W.V. Graves, Sr.

The first families to settle included:  Burke, Chappell, White, Campbell, Durham, Roden.

The first school was established in 1917 and the high school became accredited in 1935.

The first store in Fyffe was opened by Vince Roden sometime around 1905.

Fyffe Baptist Church was established in 1925.
